Questions
Why lower the temperature in an air fryer?
An air fryer is a small convection oven with a strong fan close to the food, so heat reaches it faster. The same setting as a regular oven tends to brown the outside before the middle is done.
How much shorter is the time in an air fryer?
About 80% of the oven time. Start checking at 70%, because smaller air fryers and thin food finish sooner.
What if my recipe says more than 400°F?
Many air fryers top out at 400°F (200°C). Set it to the highest it goes, allow a few extra minutes and check often.
Can I use my oven dish in the air fryer?
Only if it fits with room around it for the air to move. A dish shields the food from below, so turn or stir it halfway and check it a little later.
